Subject Lines Are Unreadable When Using UTF-8 Encoding Print

If the content creation application used for creating content (Word, Dreamweaver, etc) encodes text in UTF-8 or another encoding or other non-plain text encoding, the text will appear garbled when viewing the messages in ListManager (LM) (for example, in the Outgoing Mailing Status view) because LM's text box widget doesn't decode the UTF-8 text into plain text.

This holds true even if the selected encoding in LM is set to UTF-8.

NOTE: The appearance of the messages in Listmanager views is entirely cosmetic. The garbled subject in Listmanager will not affect the appearance of the subject in mailings. All mail clients should support UTF-8 and decode the text when the message is viewed.

If the garbled view is problematic and the content does not need to contain UTF-8 specific characters, use an ISO encoding such as ISO-8859-1 in the content creation application.
