Out of Office replies can be troublesome because of the "Reply-to" and "From path for messages sent to lists and to the original sender by default.
Depending on the Exchange server's settings, replies may go to the "From" address rather than the "Reply to" address.
This means the sender will get an Out of Office from each person on the list who has Out of Office turned on.
A possible workaround to suppress Out of Office Replies is to select your desired list and to navigate to:
- Utilities: List Settings: Email Submitted Content
- Click on the Email Header tab
- Insert the below header into the "Append to SMTP header:" field and then click "Save"
X-Auto-Response-Suppress: OOF, AutoReply
Other available suppression options are:
DR = Suppress delivery reports from transport.
NDR = Suppress non-delivery reports from transport.
RN = Suppress read notifications from receiving client.
NRN = Suppress non-read notifications from receiving client.
OOF = Suppress Out of Office (OOF) notifications.
AutoReply = Suppress auto-reply messages other than OOF notifications.
